I am Niagara! I see Niagara!
Sophie Sunshine turned four months old this week. I took her in to get a check up and we discovered that both her and I had thrush. We have both been taking medicine to help the thrush go away. I am also a breast feeding mom and as of late I have been having trouble pumping enough milk to keep up with this hungry baby. A few weeks ago I could get a lot more milk. I thought it might have something to do with the medication they gave me so I called the doctors office and talked to a brilliant woman today. She informed me that the medicine had nothing to do with my lack of milk, so I asked for advice. What should I do to help produce more milk???? She said I was most likely stressed out and with all her wisdom she told me that making milk was all about visualization. I am supposed to visualize that I am Niagara Falls. Just see yourself making milk and you will deary!!! So friends...if you will send me Niagara vibes I could sure use them. Really!!!! Do people really think like this! I am thinking formula here we come.

Miss Sunshine!!!
S
Saturday I went down to Mary's to spend the afternoon with friends and family. We celebrated my birthday (Thank you so much Mary!) After lunch we spent the next 3 hours taking the most amazing pictures of Sophie. Mary's neighbor Naomi brought all kinds of props and between the two of them they got some amazing pictures of our little beauty. Thank you girls! I wish I had such great pictures of my other kids.

Lucy is 3!
Lucy had the best pink birthday party. For the last three months she has been counting down to this day. Every day cute Lucy would wake up and say, "Mama, it my birthday now?" We invited all the people that love Lucy and let me tell you we had a packed house. We wish the weather would have been a little better so we could have been a little less squished inside, but it ended up being really fun. We fed everyone pizza, salads, and chips, broke the finger nail polish pinata, opened presents, and ate the best raspberry cupcakes we have ever tasted. Thanks to everyone who came and made Lucy's 3rd birthday the best it could be.

Dinosaur Park!
Last week my friend Michelle and I took the kids to the Ogden Dinosaur Park. All the kids had a great time except for Jack. He kept telling his mom that he wanted to go to the car. We couldn't even get him to eat his lunch because the dinosaurs were growling. Michelle ended up taking him into the gift shop and buying him a stuffed dinosaur he could hug when he got scared. What a good mommmy! Porter and Lucy loved all the dinosaurs and have been asking to go back ever since. We are thinking that we might need to invest in the family pass for the summer.

Our Box Garden!
We are not sure if we know what we are doing, but we have planted a garden!!! Chris tilled up a little 8 x 10 spot in the back yard and boxed it in with 2x6's. We bought some compost, mixed it in, and planted our little plants. We are just praying they will grow now. We planted corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, and green peppers. I can't wait to have fresh veggies!

Easter!
I have to admit that until this year I haven't been a very good Easter Bunny. I have never bought Easter outfits and usually I am running to the store the night before to fill the Easter baskets. This year was different. We did it all. New outfits for Easter Sunday, an Easter Egg hunt, hidden baskets filled to the brim with treats and toys, Easter egg dying, sidewalk chalk, and sand toys. The kids had a so much fun and I loved watching them every minute. It is okay to spoil them once in a while...right?

A healthy ticker!
I went down to Primary Children's Hospital on Wednesday to have an Fetal Echo done on baby Sophie. They said it was just a precaution we should take because Lucy had heart problems. I have to admit I was a little nervous. Mary met me for lunch and went with me to the appointment.(Thanks for holding my hand!) Chris had to work. They had an ultrasound tech. do the Echo and then the doctor came in to talk to us. She told us that Sophie's heart looked great. They didn't find anything that worried them. It is really nice to know that she has a healthy heart. If you look close at the video you can see all four chambers of the heart. It is amazing what they can see when she is only 8 inches long and weighs less than a pound.

Oh Porter!!!!
Yesterday the family went to church as usual. It really is a miracle that my children survive Sundays. I love going to church, don't get me wrong, but some days my kids drive me to the edge of insanity before the sacrament meeting has ended. Yesterday we had a pretty good day. I had to threaten Porter that he would never see his DS again if he didn't go sing with the Primary kids, but all in all it was pretty good. Both kids went to Primary without kicking and screaming and I sat breathing deeply in Sunday School. I made it all the way to Young Woman's and then... Porter's primary teacher knocks on the door and I knew by the look of desperation on her face that something was wrong. I walked outside and in a voice of panic she said, "Porter stuck a bead in his ear." What...a bead? Sure enough, when I looked I could see a green bead way down in the ear canal. For the next 15 minutes we did everything we could to extract the bead as Porter screamed, "I'm never going to be able to hear again." Mommy saved the day and finally got the bead out. Please tell me other kids do things like this and it is not just mine.

Snow Day at the new house.
Thursday, January 1, 2009
Chris and I have a lot to be thankful for this Christmas season. We have a beautiful little family, a new baby on the way,a beautiful new house, health, and a lot of happiness. These Christmas photos are of four of our families traditions. 1- Decorating gingerbread houses with my brother Chris and his kids. 2-Grandma Hubers yearly Christmas party. I have to say that I didn't love it in a church this year. I miss going to Grandma's house. 3- Aunt Shauna's Christmas Eve party. My Grandma Hollands has given all the grandkids new pj's since before I was born. I want to continue this forever. We also have Chinese haystacks and pop poppers and tell jokes. 4- Spending Christmas morning with the Maag Clan. We make breakfast burritos, exchange gifts, and enjoy the morning together. We usually go see a movie together, but this year my brother Chris didn't get to see his kids until Christmas afternoon, so we spent the afternoon at my mom's eating homemade manacotti and exchanging presents. The kids were so spoiled by everyone this year. Thank you so much! We love you!
Thanksgiving Road Trip
For Thanksgiving this year the Maag Clan decided to hop in the mini van and drive to see Great Grandma and Grandpa Maag. All seven of us (Jim, Janet, Katie, Chris, Porter, Lucy, and I) squished together for a good old family road trip. We had a really great time. I was very car sick because this sweet baby growing inside lets me know it is there and healthy quite often, but all and all the trip was great. We have made it a family tradition to see Chris's grandparents every year since we got married. We love them so much.
